Virtual museums and selfie parks. FreeGen GO. Zozulya Yuriy.
In the Freegen app, alongside tourist, entertainment, children's, and sports quest routes, a special type of entertainment is being added—so-called selfie parks and virtual museums.
These features allow users to see and interact with 3D copies of famous movie and comic heroes, stage stars, as well as examine art objects, virtual sculptures, archaeological finds, and art installations—all of which can appear right in the central square of the city, in a nearby park, or even in your own backyard.
Virtual museums can be located in specific places, such as on the central street of the city or at a school stadium.
This allows residents to gather at a designated time to explore the museum exhibits or have fun with the characters in the selfie park.
In addition, the museum can virtually move around different districts of the city or even locations throughout the country. For example, on Friday, we might have a comic-themed selfie park in the central park, and on Tuesday, the same spot could host a zoo featuring ancient animals, while on Thursday, a museum of futuristic sculptures from Burning Man could appear.
Moreover, selfie parks and museums don’t have to be tied to a specific location; they can be made accessible from anywhere in the world. For instance, there could be a Halloween selfie park for the weekend or characters from New Year’s celebrations.
Everything depends on the logic that the game designer incorporates into the virtual museum. Additionally, selfie parks can be enhanced with elements of quest routes, including photo, video, and audio guides, thematic quizzes, and animated 3D models in augmented reality. This is very trendy among the new generation for selfies, social media, and TikTok videos.
Heroes from comics, movies, and games; dinosaurs from the Jurassic Park; zombies; the Yeti; movie stars; politicians; car exhibitions; world masterpieces of sculpture; lost architectural monuments; and art objects of the future—all of this has become possible thanks to the Freegen virtual museums, which can be set up in any park, square, country club, or even a kindergarten.

Virtual exhibitions in augmented reality, museums, and selfie parks have become a trend in modern megacities and are widely used by corporations and municipalities for tourism, entertainment, and active leisure for city residents. The Freegen app offers complete functionality for creating entertainment, ranging from tourist quest routes to virtual museums in augmented reality, with the motivation of earning in-game currency, "Foints," for completing tasks.
Depending on the season and holidays, the Freegen team publishes thematic free selfie parks with 3D heroes and art objects in the app. To access the current selfie park or museum, simply tap the 3D park camera at the bottom of the app screen, choose a hero from the gallery, and they will start dancing right in front of you.
In this case, autumn brings horror themes for the Halloween weekend at the end of October. You can take photos and videos both vertically and horizontally. Moreover, the heroes are not tied to a specific location, so you can place them anywhere you are.
A list of all available quest routes and selfie parks can be found in the central feed of the app. Free missions are highlighted in green, while those that require a status, promo code, or payment are highlighted in orange.

At the top, you can see quest routes that are close to you and the most popular ones. All games are arranged by distance from your location. You can filter them by themes by clicking on the icons in the top scroll—entertainment, children's, sports, tourist, and so on. Choose the themes that interest you the most.
Additionally, you can access the mission map at the bottom of the main screen of the app to view all quest routes and virtual museums near you, as well as those within 5, 10, or 15 kilometers. By clicking on a marker, you can see the mission's title, and if you like it, you can tap again to jump to the start of the selfie park or quest route.

Game designers come up with various bright features and engaging tasks using augmented reality, including secret searches and quiz riddles. You need to carefully explore the hero and the area around them to secure the grand prize. For example, when encountering a virtual alien, pay attention to the family album at the alien's feet, examining its youth and connections with other xenomorph relatives. Remember the surname XX121—this is the super secret you'll need for future quizzes.
Another example of interaction with augmented reality is implemented based on the Desyatynna Church. The church was destroyed several centuries ago but has been virtually restored by our 3D designers. Now, it can be viewed from all angles, and visitors can even enter it. Moreover, game designers have hidden promo codes, for instance, in the bells and the belfry. Such secrets make virtual museums more engaging and interesting.
Virtual quest routes and entertainment missions in museums, historical castles, or fortresses have opened up a whole range of new emotions for attracting guests and visitors repeatedly. There are no longer questions about how to diversify visitors' experiences, making their stay in the museum more vibrant and memorable. By adding dynamics and technology, we can encourage them to return time and again for new adventures and emotions, moving away from standard tours.
The collection of gaming missions with creative quest scenarios tailored for different ages and visitor preferences is structured in the Freegen app as a clear plan for interactive entertainment and animations that align with the features of your museum. Each visitor's smartphone will provide a set of missions based on their age and interests, tracking earned in-game currency for completed tasks.
Exploring the castle, checking in, quizzes, secret hunts, and solving riddles with vibrant virtual selfie zones in augmented reality will captivate tourists, parents, and children throughout their time in the museum.
Adventures begin right at the entrance: simply scan the QR code and download the FreeGen app, and guests will instantly dive into mysterious missions styled after the museum's era. In an engaging format, the app introduces not only the territory but also its services and the history of its creation, replacing the traditional tour guide with an appealing, tech-savvy smartphone featuring a multilingual interface.
Visitors no longer need to be gathered into groups for long periods, waiting for latecomers or organizing movements while balancing internal communication among often diverse guests and their needs, including finding a translator. The multilingual interface handles everything autonomously and guides them along the most convenient route.
Each day can be planned with missions and quest routes from morning to evening, which can be activated and deactivated at specific times for different target groups.
Completing each quest route leads to instant rewards, such as museum souvenirs or coffee, as well as earning in-game currency called Foint, which can be exchanged for items in the souvenir shop or the FreeGen prize store.
For tourists and mature visitors, there will be historical missions filled with intriguing legends from local historians. Participants can immerse themselves in 360-degree panoramas of those centuries and, in augmented reality, bring to life sculptures and heroes from the past. At the same time, children's quest routes will entertain kids with adventures featuring their favorite cartoon and video game characters.
For teenagers, quests featuring mutants, zombies, or their favorite celebrities will be activated. Meanwhile, romantic couples can discover picturesque locations and charming spots perfect for selfie zones.
In sprawling museum parks, castles, fortresses, or estates, a sports quest route is very fitting. As you move through the museum (such as Pirogovo or Sofia) and complete specific exercises, you will receive physical activity while earning in-game currency.
The older generation can enjoy tourist historical and cultural missions at the hotel and nearby.
In the evening, the program activates missions at gaming locations, transforming every corner of the museum into a virtual thematic selfie zone. The themes of the selfie parks and virtual museums on the site can change daily—comic book heroes from Comic-Con, the Wax Museum, dinosaurs from Jurassic Park, a horror park for Halloween, movie characters, and more—creating an augmented reality experience that is indistinguishable from reality.
So, posting a video from the museum featuring famous characters or ancient figures alongside dinosaurs will amaze your followers on TikTok and other social media. The most interesting quest missions, virtual museums, and selfie parks can be paid experiences, generating additional revenue for your museum. Typically, the gamification program for a museum or castle can include up to 20 unique missions and varied entertainment options.
Such engagement and retention of visitors and guests are relevant for a variety of venues, including museums, castles, fortresses, churches, monasteries, universities, and more.
The ever-changing entertainment of museum gamification encourages visitors to return time and again, eagerly anticipating new adventures and rediscovering familiar places. It immerses them in a new world of emotions and experiences.
Live brightly.
